When I look back I have always had trouble with my weight I was the kid getting clothes from the husky section. When I was in Jr and Sr High I was able to control my weight thru sports. When I graduated from high school I stopped caring and it showed. Graduation day I was 6’2 146lbs 12 years later I was 6’2 (still) but I was weighing in over 285lbs wow that is eye opening when I type it.
I am not a lazy person but I am a person who loves food. I eat when I am happy, sad, nervous, sick, healthy, it really doesn't matter I just love food. I also am a person who has a hard time with portion control…if 1 is good 10 will be better, right.
When I first meet with Leslie I was smoking about a pack and a half of cigarettes a day, eating enough food for 2 grown men, and not exercising at all. I have since quit smoking, started using a food journal, learned about portion control (it rings in my head portion control), started to work out, and have been making far better food choices.
The first 2 months or so of Leslie coaching me I wasn’t very committed I would miss sessions, not do any cardio, and half heartedly try when she would give me exercises to do. I was making a mockery out of the training in fact one week I gained 8lbs how embarrassing was that.
On Tuesday the 14th of April 2009 I made a commitment to myself to take better care of myself so that I would be able to enjoy a better quality of life with those around me. I started to workout on a regular basis, I purchased a food journal (best $20 I have ever spent), and I became accountable for my food choices.
I have lost over 60 lbs since I have been working with Leslie!. I feel great! Without the help and encouragement of Leslie I would not have been able to do it. Leslie suggested a food journal and I thought to myself how why do I want to write down what I eat what is that going to do….well here's the thing when you write it down and start looking at not only what you eat but how much it really opens your eyes. Leslie encouraged me to stop smoking which I did and have not lit one up for almost a month. If it was not for the coaching I have received at Temple Fitness Studio I would still have a hard time walking more than 10 feet, playing with my 3 year old daughter, and enjoying life because of my weight and the strain it had put on my body.
I can not say thank you enough to Leslie!
At age 45 I started Menopause and started gaining weight. All the things I had done in the past that worked didn't anymore. I tried Weight Watchers and several other weight loss programs without success.
I joined Curves and it helped me tone up but I still wasn't able to lose pounds. I went for over a year and lost a total of 6 pounds. But I was much firmer.
After discussing this with Leslie she thought I should change my routine. Leslie found out I owned a Bow Flex and some other workout equipment and she offered to come to my home. I also had to keep a food diary and weigh in once a week. Being able to workout from home and use my own equipment was great option.
Leslie as helped me make better food choices along with adding some supplements. I walk 2 ½ to 3 miles at least 4 times a week, and I strength train at least 3 times a week.
I have been working with Leslie at Temple Fitness for the last year and a half. I am 60 years old and concerned about maintaining some level of strength and flexibility as I get older. Leslie has taught me some great work-outs and the proper way to do the exercises. I like having the one-on-one training. Going to Temple Fitness helps me stay motivated to continue to try to stay healthy.
All through my life I was an active person. My weight went up and down depending on my stress level. When I was 43 years old I had a hysterectomy and things really changed. I lost most of my energy and my muscles were stiff and achy. I had no flexibility. At the time, I didn't even realize I was overweight. It wasn't till later when I joined Temple Fitness and saw my before pictures that I realized I was!
When I started Temple Fitness I was 47 years old. I was overweight but my main goal was to get my flexibility back.
The first thing I had to do was keep a food diary and read the Temple Fitness Studio LLC reference guide. At that point, I realized my main problem was snacking while I talked on the phone. I would eat one candy after the other and didn't realize that I was racking up so many calories! So my trainer, Leslie, and I were on a mission: to clean up my eating habits. We made a few simple changes; for instance, I avoided snacking while I was on the phone.....what a difference that made. Another significant factor was my water intake. By increasing my water intake, my appetite was better controlled and the weight came off a bit faster.
The second thing I had to do was learn how to strength train with good form. So I started meeting with Leslie 3 times a week for strength training. I found by strength training, my flexibility started to come back and I felt stronger and more energetic. Along with this, Leslie developed a cardiovascular plan that I followed at home on my own.
Of course, I have had to face my challenges. I suffered some knee problems because of ergonomic issues at work. I even had to go through physical therapy. During this time I was still able to maintain my weight loss by working with Leslie a couple times a week doing upper body exercises and food diary reviews. After I was cleared from physical therapy, Leslie was able to bridge me back to the normal fitness level I had grown to love.
The new challenges that I face right now are changing shifts at work and moving, so keeping up with my food diary and making good food choices are going to be key!
TO DATE, I HAVE LOST OVER 30 POUNDS AND GONE FROM A SIZE 12 TO A SIZE 6 !!!!!

Sure there are mornings that I could just roll over....but I get up and work out. It makes it all worthwhile!!!!.
